How to increase bass in headphones on a computer

For lovers of low frequencies, it is very important that the bass in the headphones sound good. But sometimes after buying a new headset, the bass does not work the way you want. Do not rush to carry the purchase back to the store with claims, the matter may be in the settings of your PC. Let's start with them. These settings are available on Windows 7, 10, 8, and 8.1.

Causes of Bad Bass Sound in Headphones

There can be many reasons why bass sounds bad on headphones. Some of them are in equipment, that is, directly in the purchased headset. This may include:

  • low-quality headset;
  • creases on wires (often found when buying through online stores);
  • bad contacts on the jack.

In general, it can be any of the damage to the headphones. This is due to poor-quality products or improper transportation.

Advice! Before proceeding with the settings, be sure to check the headphones for malfunctions.

If the headset is in perfect order, then it could be a malfunction of the computer: connectors, audio cards, etc. In this case, check the headset on another device. If they work properly, then the problem lies exactly in the pc. But here everything is not so simple. The problem can be not only in technical breakdowns, but also in the absence of the necessary settings.

2 effective ways to increase bass on PC headphones

Sometimes users forget to check the appropriate settings in the PC system, and look for a computer breakdown, spending time and money on it. Do not make such a mistake, start with a simple one.

On a note! Before carrying your PC for repair, check whether all the appropriate settings for the correct operation of the headphones are set.

The most common problems users encounter are:

  • lack of the necessary driver;
  • the equalizer is incorrectly configured.

Dealing with these two issues is not difficult.

Work with the driver

Windows has a built-in driver for speakers and headphones. Therefore, you only need to find it and configure it. To do this, follow the instructions.

  1. Click on the “speakers” icon with the right button in the lower right corner of the screen.
  2. In the drop-down list, find the "sounds" and click on it with the left mouse button.
  3. A dialog box opens where the "play" tab will be.
  4. Select a speaker in this tab and click on the "Properties" button in the lower right part of the screen.
  5. The following dialog box opens, where you need the Enhancements tab.
  6. In this window, from the available list, find Bass Boost. Click OK.

If the driver settings do not have such a function, download the necessary driver for bass to your headphones.

You can also increase the bass level in the same settings in the "Advanced" tab (located next to the improvements). Here you can adjust the sound reproduction level, including its frequencies.

Equalizer setting

There are two ways to work with the equalizer. The first is to use the built-in, the second is to download a special program with advanced features. Let's start with the first one.

  1. Also click on the sound icon in the control panel.
  2. Select line sound.
  3. In the dialog box, click on the columns and select the properties.
  4. Now go to the tab "Improvements".
  5. Next, in the window, select the equalizer.
  6. Below in the line "Settings" click on the ellipsis.
  7. Next, select the bass and save.

Important! Be sure to check that there is a checkmark next to the equalizer.

Now the built-in equalizer of the headphones is set to sound in the "bass" mode, that is, low frequencies will work well. If you want to delve into the settings, download special equalizer programs.

If the headphones are professional, then a driver can be attached to them and an application or equalizer program can be specially developed for it.

If the settings do not help

If after the settings your earphones do not work as you expected, while they are not externally damaged, then there is a possibility of a PC breakdown.

It is also worth remembering that only high-quality equipment can produce high-quality sound. The audio card must also match the level of purchased headphones.
