What is the difference between inkjet and laser MFPs

MFP - a multifunctional device that includes a printer, scanner, copier and other functions at the same time. Such devices can be inkjet and laser. Let's find out what the difference is and which should be preferred.

Differences inkjet from laser MFP

The most important difference between devices in printing technology. In laser devices, there are two elements that act on paper:

  1. Laser. This is a high temperature beam for heating the dye.
  2. Toner. This is a dye in the form of a solid powder.

The composition of the inkjet device includes other details:

  1. Print head with nozzles through which ink flows.
  2. Ink. Unlike the first, liquid paint is used here.

The main difference between the devices is the efficiency when printing documents or photos. If the first printer is more suitable for text, then for a photo it is better to use the second.

The next question is the price. It is impossible to say that inkjet equipment cannot produce quality documents. The reason that laser texts are used more for texts is because they are more profitable. The cost of both the MFP itself and the consumables is lower.

Note! Inkjet printers have one feature - they are compatible with both color and black and white cartridges. Therefore, if necessary, it allows you to make text and pictures in different colors.

Technology Feature

In laser printers, the toner dispersion range is high. Therefore, the printed photos are of poor quality. But the ink in the inkjet printer is applied like painting with a brush. The image is done line by line.

Which MFP is better

To answer the question which printer is better is impossible. Any equipment has pros and cons. It all depends on the operation. For example, for texts, tables and graphs, a laser device that supports black and white cartridges is more suitable. But if the printer is needed only for printing pictures and photographs, an inkjet is more suitable. This will allow us to choose the necessary cartridges for printing (color or black and white).

Such MFPs are equally in demand in our time, because both have advantages and disadvantages.
