Remote printer printing via the Internet

Remote printing using the Internet can be done in one of the ways to send a file to a PC that is connected to the printer - through a messenger, a cloud. Naturally, this method is for isolated cases, and for permanent work in a large company, this cannot be put on stream.

Connecting the printer to a remote desktop

In order for the device to be accessible to those who use the local network, it must first be configured. To do this, you need to add to the appropriate group all the PCs for which access is required.

Connection steps:

  • make sure that the printing equipment connected to the host computer is working: why do you need to print a test page;
  • set up shared access on computers included in the group, after specifying the name of the equipment;
  • remove the password that protects access and save.

Reference! After the manipulations, the specified device will appear on all computers in the group.

Setting up remote access to the printer

Before you can connect to a remote PC, you need to make settings. Then, when connected to a computer on a printer, it will be possible to print files located on a remote PC.

All the set data is saved so that during the subsequent connection it does not need to be changed:

  1. Go to the menu "Connect to a remote computer."
  2. Click "Options" and go to "Local devices."
  3. Check the box "Printers".
  4. To get started, click "Connect."
  5. After you need to make sure that when transferring to the "Print" menu is the selected device.

How to print to a printer via the Internet

To be able to print files on remote equipment, which is located anywhere, Google has developed the option - "Google Cloud Print".

Adding a Printer

To start working with this service, you first need to connect equipment to your Google account that is connected to laptops on the Chromebook, Windows, Mac OS. You need to open Chrome on your device and sign in to your Googl account.

Then you need to go to the settings that are in the browser. Here in the search engine we find "Google Cloud Print." Click "Customize." Now click "Add Equipment".

A list of devices that are designated as hardware in the OS will open. In unnecessary devices, uncheck the boxes and leave only the required equipment. In order to subsequently connect all devices connected to the host PC automatically to this account, and to be able to use them for remote access, you need to select the check box for automatically connecting printers. Then click "Add Equipment".

After we go to the "Manage Printers" menu. Through this menu, go to your Google account. After that, it will be possible to enter it by entering the name of the service in the search engine or by clicking on the page’s navigation key on its page. A working printer has been added.

Remote printing

On Mac laptops, only web pages with the Print function are sent for printing. At the same time, it is possible to remotely print with Windows even from a web page in a browser window, at least separately located files that are open by Windows.

Remote device support in the operating system is provided by software. The application is free and is located on the site of the same resource. On your service page you need to go to the "Applications" menu, after that you will need to find Windows devices in the list of devices and download the application via the link.

The software is installed in the system like any ordinary application. The application supports all versions of Windows.

For all Windows devices there is a requirement - the installation of an authorized Chrome. You need to log in from an account that is connected to the equipment.

Then we do the same as during the normal sending of the page to print: the document opens in the required application and simply prints. You need to make sure that the parameters indicate exactly the remote equipment.

When the file is sent, the Chrome tab automatically opens, in which you need to specify the required remote equipment.

Attention! Before sending the file for printing, the parameters that the service offers are applied to it - set color or monochrome printing, paper size, number of copies.

Configuring equipment over the network is very simple and does not take much time. The most important thing is to properly configure the devices, finding the required software, and open access to the required equipment. There are no big differences regarding installation in different versions of Windows.
