How to connect cable TV to TV

Television is able to brighten up leisure, and a modern person cannot imagine himself without such a pastime as a sofa in front of the TV. But to watch it, you must first connect the cable. How to do it correctly will be discussed later in the text.

Regardless of the type of connector, not to do without a cable. For our purposes, you will need a 75 Ohm coaxial cable, best of the following brands:

  • RG 6U;
  • SAT 50;
  • SAT 703B;
  • DG 113.

These types of cable are suitable for external and internal laying. This marking is applied on the side surface of the braid, together with the manufacturer, quality of the product, characteristic impedance and mark footage. The TV, splitters and amplifiers are designed for a resistance of 75 Ohms, so this parameter is of fundamental importance.

You will also need a plug to connect to the TV. To install it, you do not need any special skills or tolerances for working with high voltages - the electric shock from the antenna cable is excluded because it uses very low voltage high-frequency currents.

Connection instructions

In most modern television technology is provided the connection of the so-called F-plug. There are three main sizes of plugs, depending on the cable section. Before buying, you should make sure that the purchased parts are in compliance.

There are two ways of cheating - with the lapel of the shielding braid and without it. The first method is more reliable, the second one is used if the plug cannot be screwed over the braid.

The first step - carefully using a sharp knife, remove the top PVC sheath so as not to damage the cable screen. The incision is made a few centimeters. Then the sheath is bent to the side and cut off. Carefully release a small portion of the inner copper wire.

It should be noted that the foil, which wraps the cable and is a conductor, is often covered on the inside for durability by a layer of polyethylene. During installation, this moment cannot be overlooked - polyethylene isolates the current, therefore there must be contact between the connector and the side of the foil where there is no PET layer.

Attention! In case the cable section is too thin for this plug, tape is wound under the foil a few turns.

At the end of the mounting on the foil of the part of the plug that is designed to be wound on the cable, the inner copper wire is shortened so as to leave no more than 3-4 mm cores. After that, tightly wind the second part of the F-plug, and the connection is ready for operation through the receiver.

Cable connection with old antenna plug

Before the advent of F-plugs, products of a slightly different design were used, which also did not require soldering. When installing the Soviet connectors without a soldering iron was not enough. Since they have already become a rarity and cable method is not connected in this way, it makes no sense to consider them in the article.

What is needed

For installation, you need the same cable that was described above. In addition, you will need a plastic plug of the old sample. You will also need a sharp knife and pliers or nippers.

Instruction

The process begins with the disassembly of the plug. To do this, rotating counterclockwise, they separate the plastic case and its metal part. The body is put on the cable. Then about a centimeter of PVC braid is removed as described above, and about 5 mm of screening foil is trimmed.

Filling the cable into the plug, pay attention to the lack of contact between the screen and the central core. Using pliers crimp the foil with connector tabs. Strongly squeeze should not, in order not to damage the structure, it is enough to achieve good contact surfaces. After crimping all the way, tighten the screw intended for fastening the central copper conductor.

The final stage - wind the plastic case on the metal part, after which you can connect the connector to the TV.
