Case for speakers do it yourself

The modern market offers consumers a large number of options for speakers and speakers. But not always the most convenient option to get an audio device is to buy it. There are situations when it is preferable to assemble the case for the speakers themselves, especially since it is not difficult.

What can you make a case for the speakers with your own hands?

A rather wide range of materials may be suitable as a material for creating a speaker cabinet. The most popular of these is fiberboard. Less commonly used ordinary wood, chipboard, plywood, MDF, thick cardboard. Plastic and metal are also suitable for this, if you have the opportunity to process them. Description of each of the materials:

  • MDF is a wooden material that is most often used among factory columns. It is distinguished by the fact that it resonates least of all, is durable and easy to handle. True, the quality of MDF is different.
  • Plastic - if we discard the problem of processing and melting, then this is a worthy candidate for a case for speakers. Light, moderately flexible (depends on quality) and durable enough to ensure a long service life.
  • Chipboard - in general, not a bad material, if we forget about some of the shortcomings, namely: fragility and fragility. What is meant here is not general weakness of the structure, but intolerance to moisture and certain types of paint. Not suitable for everyone. Easy to handle and cheap enough option. Varnish will help protect against irritants.
  • LDSP - laminated chipboard. The improved option which does not need to be varnished. This material does not look very good in the original, but it can be painted, and the price is much lower than the usual chipboard.
  • Plywood - is divided into several subcategories in accordance with the tree from which it was made. If the creator of the column case is ready to put up with the complexities of processing and a considerable price, then plywood is perfect for him. The fact is that, drying out over time, any edition of wood is bent with a “screw”, and this distortion is manifested quite strongly in plywood. If we make plywood, then we don’t need to cover the product with something: its merits will be nullified.
  • Woody arrays are expensive, and ultimately reward the user with minimal exhaust at the exit. This option is only suitable for the realization that a lot of money is invested in the column case. The only advantage is the natural look.
  • Thick cardboard is a cheap and short-lived option. On the other hand, even a child will cope with such a body.
  • Metal is a heavy and expensive choice of material. In addition, it must be able to properly handle. If you do this, then as a result the user will have a column with a metal case, which gives style.

Instructions: how to make a case?

After selecting the material you need to decide on the size of the case. With the presence of “insides” for the speaker (wires, speaker, etc.), it doesn’t hurt to choose a size that fits everything, but it doesn’t fit too loosely. Excessive empty space inside the speaker cabinet may cause damage.

Classically, the electronics of the columns consist of a rectangular parallelepiped of optimal size, but it is not necessary to make such a shape final: after the rough knockout, the creator will have the opportunity to add decorative details that will change the shape and appearance of the column.

After the measurements, direct cutting of the primary material follows in order to obtain the necessary details. Roughly speaking, it will take six plates, three pairs of different sizes, or all the same - this is already decided by the creator. Do not forget that the overlap between adjacent sheets should be equal to the thickness of the material.

After making all the necessary parts will only connect them. Type of connection depends entirely on the preferences of the owner - it can be glue, nails, screws, building brackets, and anything. It is only necessary to leave one plane to be placed inside the electronics.

REFERENCE! To prevent communication between the audio device itself and the shelf, table or floor on which it stands, speakers will be required.

Stands are easy to make from small weights designed for building scales. These small, and most importantly, inexpensive items fit perfectly into the interior and cope with their task.

How to put content inside?

First you need to choose the side that will be "front", and in it drill out the hole for the speaker, then insert it into this hole and fasten (glue, nail, if desired). It is desirable to place the remaining insides so that none of the wires are bent or pressed, and also small details do not emit a backlash. If the size was chosen correctly, then everything will fit. The final step is to attach the last plate, which will close the box.
