How to connect a home theater to a TV

Technological progress does not stand still - it is developing rapidly and new technologies and modern smart devices appear in every home. One such invention is a home theater. Recently it has become very fashionable to install it at home.

Since it has a number of advantages, people really liked it and gained popularity:

  1. The combination of a home theater with a wide screen TV makes you feel like a real movie session.
  2. Great sound, the ability to customize the speakers to your preferences.
  3. Thanks to the presence of portable speakers, you can install them in any part of the room and achieve the effect of surround sound.

This option is perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy watching TV and achieve the effect of complete immersion in the atmosphere of the events taking place on the screen.

However, most buyers have difficulty connecting the entire system to the TV and in the coordination of the speakers with each other. To do this, refer to the instructions. However, if it is incomprehensible to you or completely lost, we suggest studying a detailed connection plan.

IMPORTANT! Do not lose this plan, as it can come in handy when moving or reconnecting your home theater.

Before proceeding with the connection and settings, look at your kit and make sure that you have all the components. Only then can work be started. Of course, more than one company is engaged in the development of such equipment. Several well-known brands are working on it, and each of them has its own characteristics. In addition to conventional home cinemas, there are also the most compact and convenient Soundbar systems, which are a single elongated speaker with full customization and sound quality output.

We will focus on the basic, familiar to all home theater systems. The standard kit includes:

  1. The first and main element is the receiver. It is he who receives and collects all incoming signals (images and sound) and redirects them accordingly to the TV screen and to each of the connected speakers.
  2. A powerful system for providing good and high-quality sound, usually including a subwoofer (the largest center speaker) and five small portable speakers. Therefore, when the entire system is working, 5.1 usually pops up on the screen, which indicates normal functioning.
  3. The source of the signal that directly drives everything. Usually it is a standard player.

IMPORTANT! An HDMI cable is required to connect, some companies do not include it in the kit, and you will need to purchase it additionally.

If after checking everything, you are convinced of the presence of all the main components, you can begin to configure and connect. First you need to understand what exactly should happen in the end result. We must ensure that the image is displayed on the screen of our TV and sound output through all speakers and a subwoofer. In general, the configuration principle is simple and consists of the following steps:

  1. Video settings for high-quality, high-resolution images.
  2. Connecting an acoustics system and tuning to produce good clear sound.

Connection takes some time and consists in the following:

  1. Check out the layout of the jacks and wire connections.
  2. Carefully consider all the available connectors on the receiver and TV.
  3. Start connecting the cords one at a time: to output images, sound, and connect speakers. To do this, connect the appropriate wire connectors OUT to IN.
  4. After that, connect the speakers to the satellite receiver. To do this, match all the wires according to the corresponding names on the rear panel of the device.

IMPORTANT! Each TV has its own technical characteristics, so it’s better to choose the settings yourself to achieve the best result. We will describe only the general plan and instructions.

Video setting

The first and most important is to display the image on the screen. Its characteristics will consist in the following parameters, which must be manually configured:

  • image borders - move, scale the image using the remote control on the screen, it should fit perfectly in size, otherwise the image will be blurry and its resolution will deteriorate;
  • set the optimal brightness so that all 32 shades are visible on the bottom panel;

  • contrast can also be adjusted in the menu - follow the combination of colors in the image and do not allow the predominance of gray, after setting, check the brightness scale to prevent its shift;

  • adjust the color correction - the classic scheme consists of three primary colors (red, blue and green), adjust each of them in the center so that all the shades of the palette are displayed on the screen;

  • the clarity of the image is further adjusted if there is such a possibility - it is necessary to change the resolution settings of the display.

At this stage, the image is ready for output to the TV.

Connect to a movie theater sound

Sound connection is carried out according to the scheme described above. After that, you can begin to configure it. All information of interest on the condition of the speakers, volume level and pitch is displayed in the menu on the screen. You can make changes to the settings using a conventional remote control:

  1. First, adjust the pitch on the front and rear speakers by selecting the appropriate level.
  2. Then set the center speaker to normal.
  3. Set the delay time for the sound. To do this, you should be guided by the rule: every 0.3 m of column removal add 1 millisecond of delay.

Acoustic Setup

After the equipment is connected correctly, the stage of arranging all parts around the room perimeter is no less important.

IMPORTANT! You need to position your home theater so that all the speakers are at the same distance from you. The most beneficial would be circular placement.

Install the system and check the operation of the device using the disk. If necessary, make additional adjustments and adjust the sound effects to your preference.

If necessary, manually adjust the speakers should contact the wizard. Only an experienced specialist will help to cope with this task.

Connect your home theater and enjoy comfortable viewing, like in a movie without leaving your home.
