What humidity should be in the bedroom

Many worry about the temperature level in the room, not about humidity.
This is a very important indicator, since it affects a person’s perception of heat and cold and the general condition of households, pets and house plants.

What humidity should be in the bedroom

A regulated level is vital for the health and society of all family members.

Why is it important

Too high or low humidity affects many factors in the apartment and entails the following consequences:

  • dry air appears, from which the skin, mucous membranes of the eye and respiratory tract dry;
  • often there is a feeling of acute sore throat;
  • allergy appears, in some cases even asthma;
  • there is drowsiness, fatigue.

With an increased parameter, the following occurs:

  • dangerous and toxic mold;
  • spoiling pianos, violins and other musical instruments made of natural wood;
  • deformed chairs and tables, windows, doors.

Important! In addition to health, this indicator affects the dust settling in the room, since dust mites actively multiply, indoor flowers dry and die, pets also suffer, like people, natural wood furniture begins to crumble and lose its presentation.

Suitable humidity is normal and under special conditions.

According to the established standards of GOST RF, this level in the bedroom should be:

  • in the summer period - 40%;
  • in winter - 60%.

Ideal for a comfortable stay and pastime will be if the humidity in the bedroom meets the following parameters:

  • in the cold heating season - from 56 to 70%;
  • in sultry heat - not less than 57 to 77%.

Important! If the apartment has small children, then the minimum humidity level should be at least 60%. When the air temperature in the bedroom is not lower than 17 degrees.
Knowing the rate of this indicator in the bedroom, you can adjust it if necessary. The best solution for raising the level of humidity is to buy a humidifier. With very dry air, you need to keep the device turned on for about 10 days, then the materials and furniture in the room are saturated with moisture, and the indicator will gradually increase.

Lowering the level in the room:

  • in winter it is useful to ventilate the room;
  • apply a dehumidifier;
  • increased humidity, possibly caused by leakage in water pipes, it must be eliminated;
  • Do not use the air conditioner in cooling mode;
  • use the hood above the stove with each cooking;
  • fill the room with plants, they will fill the necessary level of humidity in the room;
  • put an aquarium or any other vessel with water, it will evaporate and fill the air with droplets of water, thereby increasing air humidity;
  • carry out daily wet cleaning in the room, and in the morning and in the evening.

What threatens the failure to maintain humidity conditions

Too much air in the room stimulates a strong loss of moisture through the skin and respiratory tract. This leads to rather unpleasant factors and consequences:

  • hair ceases to be shiny and elastic, nails become brittle, skin peels and cracks appear;
  • the mucous membrane of the eye dries, itching and "sand" appear in the eyes;
  • blood thickens, circulates more slowly, severe headaches;
  • the viscosity of the gastrointestinal juice increases;
  • these are frequent colds, drying of the nasopharynx, respiratory tract, decreased immunity;
  • increased levels of allergens in the air, as they must bind to droplets of liquid in the atmosphere.
