DIY welding table

The qualifications market is expanding every year, due to growing technical advances. But working professions will be in demand as before. In order for the expert in his field to receive a decent salary for his work, he will need to improve his qualifications. And where else is there to do this, except in the workshop? Every professional needs a working, equipped place, which remains to be done by a person whose hands grow from the right place, but lack funds. The right decision is to make the work surface yourself. If everything is clear with the turners and carpenters, each of them roughly imagines what their desktop should look like.

Welding table

A welder is a very specialized profession that requires certain working conditions. Of course, gear and equipment must comply with all safety regulations. Helmet or glasses - help protect your eyes from sparks. Gloves for burns. As well as the elements of the form, the welder table should be as much as possible protected from accidents.

To do this, the welding table must be made through (holes in the iron sheet or pipes welded together). This is necessary so that the burning elements from the welding unit do not fall on the surface and cannot ignite something. The design must withstand heavy loads, because the main objects that a specialist welder works with are pretty decent. When working, it is necessary to strictly try on with measurement standards so that the table does not buckle and cause harm during operation.

Of the main advantages of this design, it is necessary to highlight:

  1. Profitability and profitability - if you have the skill, you can safely build a welding table without making large production costs.
  2. Individuality - the table will be made just for the person who will work on it. Parameters should be taken into account from the growth and volume of work.

Do not forget about the hood, which takes part of the air containing gases and hazardous metals. Such a thing will be very useful if the workshop is away from fresh air.

As a backlight, any lamp or LED lamp can serve. Here the question is in the natural illumination of the working room.

When working on the manufacture of the table do not forget that metals should be non-toxic. Similar harmful poisons emit iron containing copper and zinc. It will be much better if all the facing materials are made of non-flammable materials.

It should be noted that the construction, which will be less than one meter, is very impractical. Due to the standing course of work, it will be inconvenient to bend down with the device in your hands, which can affect the health of the spine.

Attention! The design is a frame of shaped pipes and four legs. As a countertop, metal sheet and profile pipes can act.

Necessary tools

As the necessary tools and materials will be required:

  1. Welding machine for work.
  2. Marker, tape measure, square will serve for marking and measuring work.
  3. Clamps and a vice will become clamps in work on welding.
  4. Punch.
  5. A grinder or a large amount of sandpaper and a file to clean the surface of the pipes.
  6. The drill will help in installing the nozzles of the legs, if they are required for the welder. It is necessary to select a drill for the diameter of the thickness of the bolts.
  7. Cooking materials: profile pipes with a diameter of 60x60.
  8. Nuts and bolts. A round-head screw with a length of 8 cm is best.
  9. Jigsaw and grinder.
  10. Nippers.

Measurements and drawings

In order to carry out the correct work, which will meet all the requirements of the welder, you need to work on the dimensions and perform all pipe measurements qualitatively.

The thickness of the connecting pipes must not be less than two millimeters. So that the process of damage to the working surface does not occur, from the effects of burning welding. The cross section of the pipe should be 60x60x2-4.

The legs of the future table should be about a meter high, if this is not possible, a length of 800 mm can be used.

Step-by-step instruction

  1. The pipes are divided using a grinder with a cutting disc for metal. Burrs and chips are filed. The main frame 1000x800 mm is made primarily so that legs can be welded onto it. The legs are set using an angle so that they do not warp during welding. Clamped with clamps so that the metal does not "walk" during operation.
  2. Inside the frame, sections of profile pipes with a length of 800 mm are placed, the distance between them is about 50-70 mm. After welding these parts of the structure, all seams are cleaned with a grinder. The lower frame is made in a similar way, only the length of one segment is 992 mm and 792 mm inclusive.
  3. If the table will be transported around the workshop, you first need to install the wheels on the legs. Depending on their shape and type, it will be seen how best to fix them - on bolts, or weld. In the best case, install brake clamps that will not allow the table to travel arbitrarily during operation.
  4. For the convenience of storing the material and the welding machine, it is recommended to weld sheet metal of the same size as the frame to the lower frame. Mark the corners and cut them out with a grinder, a jigsaw. The thickness of the canvas should be more than 4 mm so that the lower level of the countertop is not pressed. Make at least 2-3 welds on each side.
  5. Additionally, hooks and a retractable pipe are installed, which will allow you to freely and conveniently transport the table. It is made of a round pipe with a diameter of 3 centimeters, which is bent on each side, so that in the original version it looked like a flattened letter "P".
  6. After the main types of work, you need to process the future surface of the table - sand or process with a grinder. To avoid unpleasant ingress of iron filings into the lungs, it is recommended to wear a respirator mask and wear glasses on the eyes. When the processing is over, many craftsmen prefer to paint their products in order to preserve their service life and make a beautiful aesthetic appearance. But in this case it makes no sense to do it, because when working with a gas welding apparatus, all the coatings on the countertop will evaporate into the air.

Reference! When all the work has been completed and the workshop has been removed, you need to put all the equipment in its place.

The welding machine will find its place on the bottom countertop, in a separate wooden box you can put all the electrodes and nozzles. In order not to get confused in the wires, you can wrap them on pre-prepared hangers.
