Thermostat for a do-it-yourself heating boiler, scheme

It is difficult to imagine a modern heating boiler without using a thermostat. This device turns the device on and off when certain temperatures are reached. Currently, thermostats have a complex structure with control buttons or touch screens. In them, you can set the temperature regimes depending on the date and time. Also on sale are devices with remote control and Internet connection. However, a simple thermostat for a heating boiler with your own hands, a circuit can be assembled by any home master who knows how to hold a soldering iron in his hands.

The device is a simple thermostat

Most often, a simple thermostat consists of the following elements:

  • temperature sensor;
  • executive device;
  • threshold circuit.

As temperature sensors, resistance thermometers, thermistors, thermal relays and other semiconductor devices can be used.

The simplest circuit of this device is a bipolar transistor device. The temperature sensor here is a thermistor that changes resistance depending on the temperature regime.

Potentiometer R1 sets the bias of thermistor R2 and potentiometer R3. Based on the adjustment, relay K1 is activated when the resistance of the thermistor changes. The diode protects the output transistor from power surges.

ATTENTION! Before manufacturing the thermostat, it is recommended to study all the information in more detail. Since often on the Internet you can see the discrepancy between the description and the scheme.

For the device to function properly, it is important to carry out the correct calibration. For self-production, it is most convenient to use the following scheme.

In this device, the Zener diode is a K561LA7 chip. The temperature is set by a variable resistor R2. The voltage is supplied to the 2I-NOT converter, then transmitted to the capacitor C1.

In such a scheme, a fairly simple principle of operation is:

  • when the temperature drops, the voltage in the relay increases;
  • when the temperature reaches a certain value, the relay is activated.
  • Any power supply operating in the range from three to fifteen volts can serve as a battery element.

ATTENTION! Before installing home-made devices, make sure that they work correctly. Otherwise, this may result in equipment failure.

As you saw, the manufacture of a thermostat for heating boilers can be carried out at home. To do this, it is enough to be able to read simple schemes and use a soldering iron. So you can assemble the device yourself at no extra cost.
