A great idea would be to place it in a place where you spend most of your time. When purchasing an aquarium, you need to prepare a place and furniture for it. How to create a special stand under the aquarium with your own hands?

Why do I need a special cabinet for an aquarium

Watching fish relaxes and teaches concentration. If you have a desire to purchase an aquarium, then do not doubt the correctness of this decision. One thing to consider is the size of the container. Focus on a volume of 50 liters. An aquarium smaller than this value can be positioned anywhere. If you choose a container equal to this or a larger volume, you should either purchase a suitable bedside table (it is quite difficult to find them) or build it yourself.

ATTENTION! Do not place a huge aquarium on a table or other surfaces that are not intended for heavy objects. It must be remembered that water, additional accessories for fish make the glass container heavier.

Furniture project

First you need to make a drawing. It needs to take into account absolutely every detail. Next, follow all steps of the step-by-step instructions:

1. Take measurements of your aquarium: length, width and height. They need to be written on a separate sheet.
2. Inspect the house and think about where you would like to place your desired furniture. If this has already been done, then sit where the aquarium is clearly visible.
3. Now you need to calculate the exact height of the cabinet. Imagine the most comfortable location for the eyes and begin to measure from this point. Do not forget about the furniture legs, take them into account (the height ranges from 50 mm to 100 mm maximum).
4. The countertop should slightly exceed the size of the bottom of the aquarium or be equal to it. This will give you complete confidence that nothing will fall. To increase the width you need only a couple of millimeters.
5. Depth should also be calculated from the values ​​of the aquarium. Do it a few millimeters more - as if doing the same capacity, but a little more.
6. Now you should pay attention to the number of partitions inside the cabinet. You need them to additionally support the surface of the cabinet. Sheet material from wood (chipboard) should be adjusted to the dimensions of the cabinet. Put them every thirty centimeters. Sheets take at least 16 mm in thickness. About 20 mm fits perfectly.
7. Doors and horizontal shelves are made by anyone.
8. The back wall should be exclusively made of particle board and not thinner than 22 millimeters. Thus, the cabinet can hold any weight. It must be installed between the side walls of the furniture to prevent destruction of the structure.
9. Do legs under each vertical partition.

Choose materials

When buying the right materials, you must remember that the furniture will in any case come into contact with water. For exterior decoration, laminated particleboard or MDF (fine fraction) are well suited. The frame should be made of metal or solid wood. The countertop should be fully suitable in all respects. Its thickness is chosen so that the surface does not bend under the weight over time (the more the better). Pay attention to the material of the legs. They can be made of steel or wood - for long-term preservation of strength. Decoration depends on individual taste preferences.

The process of making cabinets under the aquarium with your own hands

Having dealt with the materials and the drawing, it remains to prepare the tools in advance so that they are nearby in the process of work: a screwdriver, Euro screws, a pencil, a ruler, suitable drills. Now you are ready to build:

1. The first thing you need to saw chipboard. You can also do this on request. The second method will greatly facilitate the work and save time. You can also ask for a separate amount to attach edges or do it yourself. It is enough to tear the tape so long that it hangs a little at the ends. Then press firmly with your hand and hold it well with an iron. Take a rag, wipe the edge of the edge with some hand pressure for better adhesion. Then simply remove the excess edge from the sides of the cut.
2. We begin to build the frame. Here you should be very careful so that there are no slopes anywhere and everything is perfectly smooth. Details need to be connected to each other in good conscience. Do not deviate from the drawing and do everything exactly according to it, otherwise the furniture will be deformed and create huge problems.
3. On the base, fix the side and back walls, and after already the partition. Prepare Euroscrews (confirmants), for them you need to make holes in advance. Before starting to close up the armholes, make sure that they are level. Take a drill and drill the components. When choosing a drill for a drill, you need to focus on the size of the confirmants - the drill should be less than one millimeter.
4. We proceed to attach the countertops. First put it on top and set the desired level so that there are no deviations in any direction. Make a mark with a pencil and create suitable holes.
5. We proceed to install the hinged doors. They are screwed with special canopies for furniture. That they opened and closed smoothly, it is necessary to fix closers.
6. The last step is to attach legs with heel plates, thanks to which, with easy movement, you can avoid scratching the floor surface. Place the side cabinet on the floor. Fasten them around the edges and under the vertical partitions. This will ensure you build strength for a long time.

Now it remains only to put the design in a pre-selected place. There should be sockets to connect additional devices for the aquarium. First you should install the cabinet itself, and then the aquarium on it - together it will be difficult to move them. Everything is done very simply.
