DIY bath boiler

It is difficult to argue that the boiler is one of the most important attributes in any bathhouse. Its main purpose is to achieve a certain air temperature, as well as the creation of a special, unique atmosphere, which can only be in the bath. The modern market offers a huge selection of boilers that run on various types of fuel. If you want to save money, it’s quite possible to make a boiler for a bath with your own hands.

How to make a boiler for a bath with your own hands

If you want to save money and you have a desire to do something with your own hands, you can safely proceed to the manufacture of your own boiler for a bath. There is nothing super complicated in this task; you will certainly cope with it. PIt is required to prepare some materials and tools, draw drawings and you can start working.

Which boiler to make

In most cases, such designs are of two main types:

  • Cylindrical.
  • Rectangular

It is easier to make the first design, for the manufacture of a rectangular boiler, you will have to incur more substantial financial costs, labor costs will also increase, but in work they are more effective.

TIP. Before starting work, it is necessary to prepare all materials, draw drawings. For inspiration, you can see photos of finished works.

Tools and materials

Most often, home craftsmen use metal pipes with rather thick walls to collect such structures. You can also use large volume barrels. If you need a not very large and at the same time very compact boiler, prepare work one meter long and half a meter in diameter. From the tools:

  1. Apparatus for welding metal.
  2. Angle grinder, the set will require special discs for metal.
  3. Electrodes with a diameter of 3-4.

We use a metal pipe

There is a fairly simple way, you can use part of the pipe. It can be a certain segment of a strong metal pipe, it should be with a sufficient diameter, possibly vertical and horizontal execution. Each of these methods has its pros and cons.

In order to assemble a horizontal boiler, a pipe segment is placed in a horizontal position. A dummy plug is installed on top. On the opposite side of this plug, an oven door must be made. In order to additionally fulfill the capacity for heating water, a jumper can be made near the plug. This capacity can also be located in the upper section of such a stove. In order to increase the power of a home-made stove in the side, you can make a heater, where eventually river stones will be poured.

In order to assemble a vertical boiler, a pipe segment is placed in a vertical position, perhaps this option will be more convenient and practical for you. In this case, the inner cavity of the pipe will be divided into two parts. In the lower part there is a firebox, and in the upper part there will be a tank for heating water. The stone hole can be made from the side.

The chimney must be mounted strictly in the center. All compounds must be well brewed. To increase the efficiency of such a stove, it is recommended to make an adjustable damper.

We use a metal barrel

This is a practical and economical method. The base is an old metal barrel.

IMPORTANT! New barrels are not suitable for such purposes. Since they are made of thin material.

In the barrel, you need to cut down the top cover. To do this, you can use a chisel and a hammer. Next, you need to prepare a piece of metal pipe, this is about 15 cm for the construction of the base of the chimney. Take another large barrel, about 200 liters in volume. Remove the bottom cover from her. In the center of this cover, make a hole with a diameter of 10 cm for the chimney pipe, then the pipe will need to be well welded. On the other hand, weld 4 segments from the channels.

Cut out the lid for the boiler from the metal sheet, which will be installed on top, it also needs a hole with a diameter of 10 cm. The assembled boiler is mounted to the chimney.

IMPORTANT! Do not forget about boiler insulation.

Such a boiler is recommended to load no more than a third of the volume. On top of the firewood, install a lid with a pipe, it can be raised or lowered along the height of the barrel. On top of the structure must be closed with the top cover.

Long burning design

The most common boiler that runs on solid fuel will operate on the wood laid in it for no more than two to three hours. It seems not a little, but often want more. It is worth thinking about creating a boiler with the function of long burning.

This solution is undoubtedly very convenient. There is no need to regularly refuel. To achieve the desired result, it is necessary to limit the flow of air into the furnace.

REFERENCE! With the correct execution of the boiler for long burning, one tab of firewood will burn up to 20 hours.

The peculiarity of this design is very simple. The loading hatch should be slightly above the middle of the housing. It contains firewood that needs to be set on fire from above. An air limiter should be installed above them, it rests with a conical edge on the firewood that will burn. When the firewood gradually burns out, this element will gradually go down, which signals you to load a new batch of firewood.

REFERENCE. This scheme works and is effective due to the fact that the place where the combustion occurs was limited by you and the fuel is gradually pressed, as a result, the combustion processes slower.

By choosing this type of furnace, you can significantly reduce the amount of ash and soot produced during the burning of solid fuel. Now you know how to make boilers and you can safely build your bath.
