Installation and connection of instantaneous water heater

Water heater - a household appliance needed in country houses where there is no centralized water supply, and also useful for use in city apartments with a short-term shutdown of hot water due to maintenance work or accidents.

The following are aspects of the installation and connection of instantaneous heating devices to the water supply system.

Before proceeding with the connection, it is necessary to familiarize yourself with the device and the principle of operation of the device.

There are several options for the installation of instantaneous water heaters, differing in insignificant nuances for installation, which affect the operational characteristics. The principle of operation remains the same - cold water from the system enters the inlet of the device, passes through the heating element, reaches the level of the set temperature and enters the outlet.

At the same time, the heater control system includes heating only during the passage of the liquid, and also regulates the heating intensity depending on the mode set by the user.

The heating element can be directly heating elements or special metal tubes made of brass or copper, which are heated by heating elements.

For quick and high-quality installation of the device you will need a certain list of tools and materials. There are two options for connecting storage water heaters - temporary and capital.

For temporary installation, in addition to the device itself, you will need:

  • a puncher and a drill with a winning tip - for mounting on a brick or concrete wall (in the case of mounting on a wooden support - a drill and a corresponding drill);
  • level for horizontal suspension;
  • adjustable wrenches;
  • pliers;
  • a set of screwdrivers, including indicator;
  • water hose;
  • copper electric cable, appropriate section;
  • a set for fasteners (as a rule, included in the device kit);
  • dowels, screws;
  • sealant for connection of hoses: tow with paste like Unipac or fumlenta.

If it is planned to carry out a major installation, it is additionally required to prepare:

  • plumbing fittings for tapping into the trunk - at least a tee for supplying water to the device;
  • ball valve;
  • flexible eyeliner with union nuts for connecting the device to the system.

Choosing a place to install the heater

 Before starting installation work, you must carefully consider the installation site. If a non-pressure device is purchased, it must be installed in the immediate vicinity of the consumer (directly in the bathroom or in the kitchen). Typically, it is used to heat water in a shower or sink.

ATTENTION! When planning the installation of a flow heater in the shower, it is necessary to choose a place protected from splashes. As a rule, they try to mount the device above the level of the shower head, outside the plane of expansion of water jets.

Despite the protection class of IP24 enclosures, it is categorically not recommended to install the device in places of direct contact or accumulation of liquid.

After choosing the installation location, it is necessary to provide electrical preparation. In the case of switching on a device operating from a 220 V network, a three-core cable is supplied, which is connected to the protective grounding device from the side of the shield. Connecting other consumers to this electrical outlet is not advisable.

In the case of stationary installation of the pressure model, it is advisable to choose the installation location next to the cold water riser. As part of the preparatory measures, in addition to the electricity supply, it is necessary to make changes to the water supply system:

  • connect to the cold water pipe through a tee a piece of eyeliner to the installation site of the device;
  • install stop valves (crane) in this section;
  • it is recommended to put a fine filter before supplying water to the inlet of the device;
  • lower the pipe from the outlet of the device to the hot line, connecting it also through a tee.

In such a scheme, in the absence of hot water in the main, it is necessary to shut off the inlet valve, while opening the tap towards the cold water supply to the instantaneous water heater. When it appears - it is necessary to perform the steps in the reverse order: turn off the heater tap, and then open the valve on the line.After summing up the electricity and water supply, you can proceed to the main installation.

IMPORTANT!Before starting installation work, make sure that the selected wall section to which the device will be attached has sufficient load-bearing capacity. It is not recommended to install even the smallest devices on walls made of drywall or plywood.

Sequence of steps The commissioning of a backup water system using a flow heater is as follows:

  1. Mark up to fix the device to the wall. To fix the device horizontally, use the level.
  2. Drill holes with a punch or drill. Place dowels of the appropriate diameter in them.
  3. Lean the heater body against the mounting location. Secure it with a screwdriver or screwdriver.
  4. Connect the device one by one to the cold and hot water pipes. Remember to use gaskets and sealing materials where necessary.
  5. By opening the supply tap and turning on hot water at one of the consumers, spill the device to air it.
  6. Create pressure in the system by shutting off the taps from the consumers, make sure that there are no leaks at the places where the device is connected to water.
  7. Verify that the power cord is disconnected. Connect all three cores to the terminals according to their marking: N - zero, L - phase, ┴ - ground.
  8. Turn on the machine in the shield. Check the operation of the device.
  9. If the heater is working correctly, complete the installation by securing the housing cover with screws or clips.

ATTENTION! It is strictly forbidden to use the device in a network with missing or poor-quality grounding, as well as bypassing the RCD. If a leak occurs inside the device for any reason, the electrical protection will instantly trip and the potentially hazardous circuit will be de-energized.

The combination of water and electricity, especially in open systems, always carries a hidden threat. When installing a instantaneous water heater, it is necessary to comply with all safety requirements, having carefully read the installation and operating instructions included with the device.

You must ensure the safety of the wiring, a sufficient amount of allocated power to connect the device, a suitable rating of the circuit breaker and RCD. If the wiring or elements of the switchboard equipment become very hot, its operation is not possible.

In order to avoid equipment malfunction, it is necessary to timely change the filter at the heater inlet and monitor for leaks.

In accordance with the regulations, carry out preventive maintenance; with constant use, carry out visual inspection from time to time.
