Which cookware is suitable for induction hob

The life of a modern person is so rich and fast that you don’t want to spend too much time on cooking. Now that induction hobs have come into our everyday life, you can cook dinner 15-20 minutes faster. The main thing is to use the right utensils. Many do not want to switch to induction cookers, citing the high costs of buying pans and pots. But is it so complicated? And is it possible to use existing utensils without acquiring anything new?

A feature of induction cookers is that they heat the bottom of the dishes, and their surface remains cold. Everything is explained by electromagnetic induction. Inside the case, instead of a heating element, there is a magnetic coil, which passes current and creates a field. When dishes with a special surface that capture currents get into it, it heats up. If for this purpose you use an ordinary pot or pan, the tile will not work, or the surface of the dishes will remain cold.

In stores, products made of ferromagnetic material are marked with special icons or inscriptions. You can check its quality with a magnet. Bring it to the surface, and if the magnet joined it, then you can buy goods.

Material

In the manufacture of products for induction cookers, materials that are capable of magnetizing are used. This is cast iron, stainless steel, aluminum with an improved coating in the bottom area. Glass, copper, ordinary aluminum or ceramics will not work.

Such dishes can be washed in the dishwasher. But cast-iron options are better to dry thoroughly to avoid rust.

Diameter

Most tile models have a minimum diameter. If the dishes are less than a certain value, the technique will not "see" it. Exceeding the specified diameter will also lead to the fact that part of the dishes will not heat up, because it will stand on a cold surface, where the magnetic field does not propagate. Therefore, some Turks for making coffee or ladles made of materials defeated by induction will still not be suitable because of their miniature size. It is important to consider this when buying new things.

Bottom thickness

This parameter is also important, because a too thin bottom deforms under the influence of temperature. The optimal indicator is 2-6 mm. There should be no relief on the bottom, because the tight fit of the dishes to the surface is important for better heat transfer.

A wide assortment boasts Tefal. At affordable prices, the brand can find dishes made of stainless steel or advanced aluminum. DeBuyer products manufactured on the basis of an alloy of steel and copper, characterized by high indicators of durability, will be more expensive.

As for the materials and recommendations for their selection, here you can give the following tips:

  1. Stainless steel is a budget option. The bottom thickness in such dishes should be at least 2 mm.
  2. Cast iron is an excellent material for gooseberries or a cauldron, in which you can cook porridge, pilaf. However, this metal has a large weight, and the sensitive panel can crack. Cast iron pans, due to their ribbed bottom, may not come in good contact with the stove.
  3. Enameled products - look good and are great for cooking using an induction cooker. It is important to know in advance which alloy is used in the base.
  4. Aluminum - in its pure form is not suitable for induction surfaces, but in combination with steel works great.
  5. Copper - not suitable for magnetization, but you can use a magnetic adapter disk for it, placing it under the bottom.

There are more than enough options for utensils and ways to adapt almost any kitchen utensil to magnetic waves. Try cooking on an induction cooker, and you definitely won’t want to return to standard equipment!
